Green Isle Foods 2024 FoodCloud Impact Report

As part of our sustainability commitment to ensure no good food goes to waste, Green Isle Foods have been partnering with FoodCloud since March 2020. 

FoodCloud is an amazing organisation that links companies with excess food to families and communities who are most in need of it, in an effort to combat food waste and food insecurity. 

FoodCloud assists supermarkets, food manufacturers, and suppliers in preventing the waste of perfectly good excess food by means of their cutting-edge technological platform and their network of food redistribution hubs. In addition to lowering carbon emissions, FoodCloud’s dedication to reducing food waste & ensuring it reaches those who need it, enhancing social impact helps families and communities throughout Ireland.

Community partners in 2023 used surplus food in the following ways:

42% provide food “parcels” to people in need.

22% use surplus food to cook and provide meals.

21% use surplus food to provide food for service users own use.

9% provide surplus food through breakfast & afterschool clubs.

All while contributing to build a more sustainable food system.

FoodCloud works with 674 community groups across Ireland and redistrubted over 3,896 tonnes of surplus food in 2024. That equates to over 9,250,00 meals and 8,960 t CO2 saved. 

 

Through We made a contribution in 2024 to FoodCloud’s mission with:

  • 1.2 tonnes of food donated, equating to 2,890 meals for individuals and families in need.
  • 2.8 tonnes of CO2 equivalent avoided, helping to reduce our carbon footprint. 

Our partnership with FoodCloud is an ongoing effort, and we are proud of the impact we have achieved so far with:

  • 25.2 tonnes of food donated to date, providing 60,056 meals.
  • 79.6 tonnes of CO2 equivalent saved, supporting environmental sustainability.

 

As we continue into 2025, we remain dedicated to supporting our communities and making a positive difference. Through our work with FoodCloud, we support a more sustainable future in addition to reducing food insecurity.
