When I first walked through the doors of Green Isle Foods as an intern, I wasn’t entirely sure what my journey would entail. What I discovered, was a vibrant workplace buzzing with energy, innovation, and a genuine passion for food. From my very first day, I wasn’t just “the intern”. I was genuinely welcomed as part of the team.

I had the opportunity to work across several departments, gaining first-hand experience in how a food business operates behind the scenes.

During my time I gained experience across multiple departments including HR, Marketing, Innovation, Supply Chain, Sales, Technical and Finance.

I found the internship particularly exciting due to its variety of departments. In Marketing, I got involved in Digital Marketing which included market research, email marketing, content creation, influencer marketing, learning about the different social media channels and lots more.

I also supported the Technical team with sustainability projects, QAP reporting, cooking instructions, specifications and retailer presentations.

My time with the Sales team involved visiting stores, auditing products, and gaining insights into retail presentation and maintenance. It gave me a newfound appreciation for the entire production-to-purchase process.

During my time within HR, I contributed to the development of the employee handbook for both company sites, ensuring it was clear, comprehensive, and aligned with company policies. While working with the supply chain team, I assisted in processing orders using SAP, gaining valuable experience. Additionally, I supported the finance department by helping to process invoices, which enhanced my understanding of financial operations within the business.

From day one, Grace brought great energy and enthusiasm for her work. She adapted really quickly to the culture in Green Isle Foods. Grace provided fantastic support on our sustainability project and also on marketing tasks. She brought a great, fresh perspective. Thank you very much Grace and well done. - Keelin Walsh, Marketing Director

Beyond the work itself, Green Isle Food’s culture truly sets it apart. The team is incredibly supportive and open, always willing to answer questions, offer guidance, and include me in discussions. What’s more, their commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices – values that are actively lived, not just discussed.

As my internship concludes, I’m leaving with enhanced skills and a sharper understanding of the food industry, helping me grow both personally and professionally.

I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from such a knowledgeable and welcoming team. I would especially like to thank Áine, Sharon, Caroline and Keelin for all your guidance, patience, and support throughout my internship, it has made a lasting impact on me.

It has been a real pleasure working with Grace over the past few months. Her contribution to the technical team has been truly invaluable. Whether supporting information requests and preparing key reports, assisting with customer tastings, or helping implement a new waste system at our Naas office, Grace consistently brought a hardworking, positive, and efficient approach to everything she did.
Thanks to her dedication, we were able to meet tight deadlines for customer data requests, complete a comprehensive internal review of the nutrition scores for all 116 of our products, and deliver successful presentations of our new products to key retail customers. We’ll be very sorry to see Grace go, but we’re excited to see what the future holds for her. We have no doubt she’ll continue to achieve great things. - Áine Ní Cheanainn, Technical Manager
